The Present Continuous Tense
He is eating rice 与 He eats rice 意思有何分别呢?
中文用不同的字眼来区别句子的意思。
例:
他正在吃饭。 He is eating rice.
他习惯性地的每天吃饭。 He eats rice.
但英文,却用 Tenses ( ‘ing’ 或没 ‘ing’, ‘eat’ 或 ‘eating’ ) 来区别句子的意思。
在这一课,我们来讨论 Present Continuous Tense.
Present Continuous Tense 的句子构造:
|
‘ing’的动词
SUBJECT + is / am / are + ‘ing’ VERBS
|
当我们说: I am eating.
The boys are playing football. ( 那些男生正在踢足球。)
The teacher is teaching. (那位老师正在教课。)
Michael is talking to Mr. Tan. (麦克正在和陈先生说话。)
许多 moo学生(华校生) 也许不知道, Present Continuous Tense 也可以用来说 未来的事情。
情况二: 未来的事情
例: I am visiting my parents next weekend.
(这句子的意识并不是: 我现在正在拜访我的父母亲。)
而是: 我决定下个周末要拜访我的父母亲。
那 I am visiting my parents next weekend 与 I will visit my parents next weekend 在意思里有何不同?
情况三: 最近发生的事情 (非永久性的事情)
试想想: I live in the US. 与 I am living in the US. 的意思有何不同?
注: I live in the US. 是 Simple Present Tense
I am living in the US. 是 Present Continuous Tense
I live in the US 的意思是: 我住在美国。
I am living in the US 的意思除了是 “我住在美国”,也带了 “我暂时住在美国” 的意思。
所以,当一位美国人说: I am living in Thailand now. 他所要说的意思是:
I am living in Thailand
•------------------->
TimeLine ________________|_________________
Past Now Future
他现在住在泰国,他短期内也将会住在泰国,但不会永远住在泰国。(非永久性的事情 )
(注:在英文里,‘暂时’ 可以是一年,三年,甚至十年,非常奇怪。'暂时' 不代表 '短期',但绝对代表了 '非永久性的事情')
相反的,如果你是一名泰国人,当你被问起,你应说: I live in Thailand.
而不是: I am living in Thailand.
